Are you interested in building your leadership skills in the pool this summer? Would you like additional service hours while building your resume? The Montpelier Marlins swim team is currently looking for volunteer assistant coaches ages 14 and older to support our swimmers. This is a volunteer, unpaid leadership position and qualifies for volunteer hours. 

Required Skills and Abilities

Age 14 years or older

2 years in a summer swim league, or one full year-around swimming experience

Able to swim all strokes legally

Outgoing, energetic, and patient with newer or younger swimmers

Good at accepting feedback and working with a team

Red Cross CPR/ AED First AID certified before the start of the swim season

Red Cross online training in Swim Safety for Coaches before the start of the season.

Job Responsibilities

Provide assistant coaching for 5 practices per week. This may include 1 practice on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday which cannot be made up. The other 4 practices will occur during younger practices, or on Tuesdays or Thursday when there is more than one practice available.

Attend 4 out of the 5 season meets and be available at the end of the meet for a 20 minute coaches meeting

Follow head coach’s instructions about practices and meets

Provide leadership as well as a positive and fun swim culture for the team
