THIS MEET WAS SO CLOSE!!
Dear Marlins Families,
What an incredible meet we had this week! This meet was so close it had us all on the edge of our seats. We were within 12 points for much of the meet, and it all came down to those final relays—which, as we all now truly appreciate, pack a serious points punch!
Wins come in more ways than one, and this week we saw grit, teamwork, and rising potential shine through. A heartfelt thank you to Anna Childers for saving the day with tents in the brutal heat—your support made a real difference! And let’s give a loud Marlins cheer for our newest swimmer, Frankie, who joined just a day ago and already made such a meaningful impact with points at our meet. We're so thrilled to have her on the team!
Let’s keep up our team spirit and hard work! And remember, each swimmer who competes at the meet opens up more scoring opportunities for the team. Make sure your swimmer is there next week for our homemeet against Russett!
Next week, we’re back home, and the energy will be electric. Parents - we look forward to seeing all your help and support on the deck! We can’t run a meet without you, so thank you for standing up and volunteering! Let’s pack the deck with team spirit, strong swims, and loud cheers. We are right there—so close to breakthrough success. Let’s keep believing, keep pushing, and keep swimming hard.
Let’s go Marlins!
With pride and excitement,
- The Marlins Swim Committee
From the Coaches:
We are incredibly proud of the effort and progress we’ve seen from each and every one of you in practice. Your commitment is paying off in powerful ways—your strokes are getting stronger, your endurance is growing, and this weekend, a few of you swam your very first legal strokes in competition! That’s a huge milestone—congratulations!
We’ll keep fine-tuning the little things this week, so let’s bring that same focus and energy to the pool. Every lap counts, every practice matters, and we're building momentum together.
Let’s get ready to shine at our next meet - Go MARLINS!
- Mercedes & Vanessa
From the Officials:
One of the most rewarding parts of these swim meets is witnessing just how much our swimmers are capable of accomplishing all on their own. Their focus, resilience, and independence in the pool are truly something to celebrate!
As we continue into the season, we want to kindly remind everyone of an important rule that helps ensure fairness and consistency for all athletes. According to league guidelines: “Once swimmers have reported to the Clerk of Course, they must remain in that location until directed or escorted to their lanes. Once reported, they shall receive no coaching or assistance. Any swimmer so coached or assisted shall be subject to disqualification by the referee.”
We know how passionate our parents are—your energy is electric and your support means the world to these kids. But during races, it’s essential that cheering stays cheering. Offering encouragement and applause from the sidelines is always welcome and so appreciated. However, providing stroke tips, race strategy, or instructions—no matter how well-intentioned—crosses into coaching, and could lead to unfortunate disqualifications.
If you want to make a change in your child's swimming, come and join the Stroke and Turn! Here you have to remain impartial (aka cheer in silence) and also know what they are doing wrong. Knowing what your child did wrong will give the parent the opportunity to assist the swimmer by having discussion with the coaching staff to help correct the issue.
Let’s keep celebrating every stroke and supporting our swimmers with the proud smiles and loud cheers they count on. Thank you for helping us foster a positive and respectful meet environment for everyone involved!
