Montpelier Swim Records Update
June 24, 2025 Dear Neighbors,
Community, Marlin Families and Swimmers, Over the past year, the 2024 Marlins Swim Committee decided to establish a formal policy on pool swim records. A special thank you to Andy Reeves, who gathered historical data and met with multiple stakeholders so that the committee could make an informed decision. After much research and review, the 2024 Marlins Swim Committee adopted the following policies: a. The Montpelier Marlins (MC) swim team will continue to maintain team and pool records for all properly officiated swim meets. b. Marlin swimmers may break team and MC pool records during Prince-mont Swim League (PMSL) regular season, divisional, and all-star meets AND any properly officiated swim meet, including the Laurel Invitationals. c. PMSL teams from all divisions may break MC pool records during PMSL meets AND any properly officiated swim meet hosted at MC pool, including the Laurel Invitationals. e. Retroactively, swim times achieved during the 2023 Laurel invitationals that broke records will be maintained in MC records and displayed on Marlin swim team and pool banners. These policies are based on historical data regarding how records have been kept. We will also be working to update our physical records’ display at the pool.
Yours in swimming, Melissa Smith, Committee Chair and the 2024 MCA Swim Team Committee
