Registration, Eligibility + Fees

To register for this year’s swim program, please review the eligibility requirements below and complete an online application. Swim Team Eligibility

To be eligible for the 2026 Montpelier Marlins swim team, each swimmer must:

1. Be between the ages of 5 -18 years old and be able to swim one lap across the pool unassisted (Swimmers should also understand basic water safety skills and demonstrate the ability to comply with instruction from our coaching staff.)

2. Be a Montpelier community resident, be registered with the Montpelier Community Association as an extended family member, or be hosted by a family who resides in Montpelier (For more information on our Adopt-a-Swimmer program, see below.)

3. Complete the application and submit registration fees no later than the first team practice on Thursday, May 28th.  (If registration fees are not received by the first practice, swimmers will not be allowed to practice with the team.)

4. Have at least one parent or guardian attend a mandatory Parent Orientation via Zoom on either Tuesday, May 19th from 6:30 PM- 7:15 PM or Thursday May 21st from 6:30PM - 7:15 PM.

5. Families will be required to volunteer throughout the season. Jobs will be ranked using a point system and each family is expected to accumulate 100 points throughout the summer (different jobs are worth different points). Families who do not accumulate the required volunteer points will be charged a fee of $200 per registered family.  

Registration Fees

We aim to keep our registration fees affordable to enable as many families to participate as possible. Fees for the 2026 swim season pay for our coaching staff, team meets, equipment, and the end of year banquet. For the 2026 swim season, registration fees are as follows:

Montpelier Residents + Extended Family

● 1 swimmer — $170 total

● 2 swimmers — $220 total

● 3 swimmers — $270 total

● 4+ swimmers — $320 total

Adopted Swimmers

**Adopted swimmers must pay the applicable rate above (for the number of children registered), plus an additional annual $50 fee.**

Current residents of the Montpelier community who are in good standing with the Community Association (with no outstanding homeowner fees or AACC citations) may recruit swimmer(s) for the Montpelier Marlins Swim Team from outside the Montpelier community through the ‘Adopt-a-Swimmer’ program.
Adopted swimmers are required to pay the swim team registration, plus an additional $50 fee per swimmer. In addition, adopted swimmers must read and complete the Adopt-A-Swimmer form, available in the "For Your Information" section of our website at montpelieronline.org/swim.  A signed and completed form should be emailed to [email protected] prior to the first team practice. A passport-sized photo of the swimmer must also be provided at tryouts or first evening practice. Access to the pool, outside of practice, for Adopted Swimmers will end on Friday, July 10 which is the last official day of swim team practice.

Tryouts for New Swimmers

All new swimmers (those who have not been on the team previously) must complete a tryout. New swimmers need to be able to swim across the pool at least once unassisted. Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, May 27th and Wednesday, May 28th @ 6:30 PM at the Montpelier Community Association Pool. If you’re unsure whether your swimmer is ready to join the team, don’t worry! Register your swimmer and join us at the pool for tryouts! Our coaching staff will assess their ability on-site.
